The modern Lithuanian Litas (plural: Litai) was introduced on June, 25 1993. The currency is subdivided into 100 centų (genitive case; singular: centas, nominative plural: centai). It is expected that the litas will be replaced by the euro by January, 1 2010, even if this date may be delayed until 1 January 2013 due to the current rate of inflation.
